Auntie L’s Smoky Beefy Meatballs

Meatballs, anyone? You need my Auntie L’s Smoky Beefy Meatballs recipe.

Auntie L’s Smoky Beefy Meatballs are sure to warm and satisfy your family’s stomachs this Fall.

My Aunt Leah makes THE best meatballs in the whole entire world.

The main ingredient is the beef, of course. I only use beef I raised myself on our farm.

We fed out a steer all summer. We recently got this meat back and now our freezer is full of meat for the cold winter months.

Beefy and Smoky Meatballs

Auntie L’s smoky beefy meat balls is the first recipe I’ve made using this year’s fresh beef.

Not only are they full of beefy flavor, but Auntie L. adds in a secret ingredient. This secret ingredient in the sauce is the key to the smoky flavor we all love in the Fall.

There’s nothing better than a little liquid smoke added in for a smoky flavor. It smells just as good as it tastes.

Here is the recipe for Auntie L’s smoky beefy meatballs. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients:

2 Eggs
1 Cup Milk
3 lbs Ground Beef
2 Cups Oatmeal
1 tsp. Onion Powder
2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Pepper
2 tsp. Chili Powder
1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder

Beefy Smoky Meatballs

Sauce:

2 Cups Ketchup
1 Cup Brown Sugar
2 tsp. Liquid Smoke
1/2 tsp. Garlic Salt
1 Cup Water

Beefy Smoky Meatballs

Roll the beef mix into medium size balls and soak into the sauce. Then, place the meat balls in a lightly greased clear baking dish. Pour the rest of the sauce evenly over the meat balls.

Bake @ 350 degrees for 1 Hour. The meatballs should be thoroughly cooked and the sauce bubbling.

More farm fresh ingredients in this recipe:

As I mentioned before, I raised the ground beef from a calf on our farm. But, the beef is not the only farm fresh ingredient found in this recipe.

The ketchup is homemade. I made and canned the ketchup earlier this summer from tomatoes I grew in my garden. I used Mrs. Wage’s packets for seasonings and canned several pints and half pints of the ketchup.

The ketchup tastes super delicious, especially in recipes like these meatballs.

I hope you enjoy my Auntie L’s smoky beefy meatballs as much as I do.

60+ Easy Ground Beef Recipes Your Family Will Love to Eat

Wednesday 16th of May 2018

[…] There’s so many options for meatballs! They are so easy to make and easy to freeze. Different meat balls require different seasonings.  Swedish: Since I am of Swedish heritage, I have grown up on Swedish Meat Balls. However, for now, visit this page for similar recipe.  BBQ: This is super simple. Just make your hamburger balls and cover them with BBQ sauce of your choice. This is what one we love. Then, bake in the oven for 30 minutes or put them in the slow cooker.  Porcupine: The texture of these is what designates them as “porcupine.” Mix ground beef, onion, minute rice and tomato sauce together and form into small balls. Slow cook in the crock pot. Or you can cook more quickly in the oven for 30 minutes or on the stove top.  Or here’s another version of porcupines: Brown about 1 lb of ground beef, season with salt and pepper. Add about a quart of stewed tomatoes. Chopped onions if you like, 2 Tablespoons EACH of butter and sugar. Add about 1 cup of rice. If you use uncooked rice, add more tomatoes. Form into meat balls It can be slow cooked or microwaved 5 minutes on high, then half power for about 20-30 minutes. Smoky: My absolute favorite meat ball recipe. My aunt created it and there’s a secret ingredient that makes it amazing.  For my Auntie’s complete recipe, go here […]

With all the processed food out there, this would be the best time to make your own meatballs!

This is a great recipe to use to make your own. It makes several meals worth, too (at least for my family of three). So, they can be frozen and used for later meals as well. :)
