Are you on the fence to remodel online business platforms that aren’t quite working with your business goals?
Remodel online business platforms you want to tweak or change can be nerve wracking. You may be worried about changing up your brand. Believe me, I was. But, change can be a good thing.
Remember that your brand should be about you and your customers. If either one of those change, you should highly consider a remodel.
I decided to remodel online business platforms myself. I changed the name of my online business platform from Farm Fit Mama to Farm Fit Living.
Why I Made The Big Change
The main reason for the big change up is to become a more intentional blogger and to be able to connect with more of you in the rural living/homesteading niche.
My content and topics you enjoy reading are the same under a different and more fitting title. Rural living is my absolute passion in life. To find out more about me and about my passions to help others find balance and to obtain a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, click here.
Another reason why I plunged to make the big change in my platform is because of who I really am.
To be honest, I’m not a mommy blogger and I do not think of myself as an expert in the parenting field. I was beginning to think that the name Farm Fit Mama would not be sustainable for me as a platform owner in the future. While I’m still a very small platform, I’m looking at the big picture. I desired the change necessary to sustain my business platform well into the future.
So, you maybe wondering if it was easy to remodel my entire platform, including social media urls, photo watermarks, etc. I knew it would not be easy and I was scared to death. But, I’m going to share with you a list of important steps I went through to change up my platform and synchronize my new name with all of my social media pages.
I’m going to share 5 steps to remember when you remodel your business platform.
1. Communicate with your host.
Seriously. Don’t try to do this on your own without your host! GoDaddy.com is my host, so I called them.
I’m sure glad I did.
Calling my host saved so much time for me. I can truly credit them for helping me make the transition easily and a little less painful.
GoDaddy basically made the transition for me. They were even able to merge my old web sites together into Farm Fit Living, which was something I’d been wanting to do but had no clue how I was going to accomplish the merge.
I completely trusted GoDaddy.com to do the work for me. They more than delivered.
2. Change your design, headers, and pictures.
This will take some time and patience. Changing my name and platform meant changing my banners, logos, and watermarks. I did not change any of the colors as I love the colors I’m already using. I enjoy using picmonkey.com for all my design work.
I am still in the process of going through pictures to change watermarks as I update old posts. I plan to get it all updated soon. I’m really glad I didn’t wait any longer to to remodel online business platforms because there would be a lot more pictures to edit.
3. Change all your social media names and url’s.
Let’s face it. Social media is addicting and there are way too many of them out there for us to join.
And, I think I am on every single one. And every single social media account was changed to Farm Fit Living for branding purposes.
This step is really simple but time consuming. To make it easy on you, I will include links to all of my social media platforms so you can connect with me if you’re not already:
* Follow me on Twitter
* Like me on Facebook
* Follow me on BlogLovin.
* Add me on Tsu
* Connect with me on LinkedIn
* Add me on StumbleUpon
* Subscribe to my YouTube Channel
* Add me on GooglePLUS
* Follow me on Instagram
* Follow me on Pinterest
Go ahead and start connecting with me!
4. Affiliates and sponsors
Of course, it’s a good idea to let your affiliates and sponsors know if you change your name so they know who this new person is. This entails going into all your accounts and changing as much as you can.
Luckily, I don’t have very many affiliates, so I was able to change user names on every single one.
5. Comments from another web site plug in
I use Disqus for my commenting, so of course, I wanted my Disqus name to stay the same as my platform name. I was able to change my Disqus username, which helped me keep all of my current comments. However, in the process, my Discus account actually disconnected from my web site.
So, my readers could leave a comment via WordPress. But my WordPress comments were not able to be viewed after I reconnected my Disqus account back to my web site.
Luckily, my bloggy tech friends introduced me to exporting my WordPress comments into Disqus. Now all my comments can be viewed, which is amazing. When your readers take time to leave a comment, you definitely want to make sure it can be seen by everyone.
Don’t Be Afraid to Change
In my quest to become an educator and an inspiration to others, I felt the need to become intentional with my identity. So, I decided to remodel online business platforms to refine my brand.
Changing the name of everything you’ve worked so hard for can be scary. But as I can honestly tell you, it’s just time consuming to remodel online business platforms. I know I’m not the first platform owner to change their identity and I won’t be the last.
If you’ve been thinking about doing a little remodel on your precious platform, now is the time. Business is all about risk. So take the plunge to remodel online business platforms for the best business look you can achieve.
Are you hesitating on changing your platform to become more intentional?”
