Chasing Big Dreams with Jenn Bays

Chasing big dreams can often times feel like running after nothing.

However, if you want it bad enough, you WILL catch those dreams and make them come true. And it feels like magic when that happens.

Both myself and Jenn Bays are telling our stories about actually chasing big dreams and catching them. If you feel like you’re just chasing mist and that you’ll never achieve big dreams, think again! I want to encourage you to listen to our interview together.

A little background: For a while now I’ve needed help with my online business and when I ended up “meeting” Jenn, a Virtual Assistant. I knew I found someone that not only could help me but understood me and my audience. I ended up finding her on my very favorite Facebook group, The Rural Sisterhood Community, that is run by Elizabeth Shipstead.

Listen to my interview with Elizabeth about creating your own rural sisterhood here.

Here’s what you’ll find in the episode:

  • Tips on finding balance between building a business and a growing family.
  • All about how she started her own business and chasing big dreams
  • Some great recipes to try and books to read.

Chasing Big Dreams

FIRST OF ALL, ABOUT JENN

  • She’s a new mom to a 6 month old little boy.
  • She lives 30 miles outside of Elizabethtown, KY in Cecelia, KY surrounded by corn fields, soy bean fields, and her horses.
  • She started her own virtual assistant business when she was on maternity leave and built the business while working her day job and raising her son.
  • Her favorite past times are horse back riding and reading.

HERE’S A BIT OF ADVICE FROM JENN

Remember to take time for you. It is impossible to be positive and fill other’s up when you are empty.

To add to this, if you’re feeling lonely or unfulfilled, maybe you could start a new hobby or build on your hobby by turning it into a business. This will keep you busy and you just might find yourself finding balance in the process.

Here’s some ideas of some hobbies that could be meeting a need in your community.

OBSTACLES JENN HAS HAD TO OVERCOME

  • Went through a divorce 6 years ago.
  • Diagnosed with PCOS after over a year of trying to get pregnant.

AS A RESULT, SOME LESSONS LEARNED

She knows she can accomplish what she sets her mind to. She found and fell in love with her husband after moving to Kentucky who has been a tremendous support system as she’s started her own business.

Her main reasons for establishing a business at home as a virtual assistant includes:

  • Being able to stay home with her adorable son.
  • Having more time for herself and how her life can be more fulfilling.

SOME FACTS ABOUT HER

Her favorite authors are Mary Higgins Clark, Kiera Cass, and Jen Sincero. She loves listening to Jenna Kutcher’s “Goal Digger” Podcast. She’s a furbaby mom to different furbabies.

This book, “Girl, Wash Your Face” is a must read.

BEST PERSONAL HABIT

One of the things she is most looking forward to when working from home is setting better work/life boundaries. No more tech in the bedroom for this gal!

And this is so important when working from home. You have to have boundaries or else your business won’t grow. But I know all people who have big dreams know this already. A dream for success can most definitely be achieved by conforming to your own set of rules, tweaking when necessary and doing whatever it takes to achieve all the things that will make it grow.

The biggest step to being successful and finding balance in one’s life is taking care of yourself. In order to care for others, you have to make sure your needs are in check. And one of the great symbols for balance in life is feeling fulfilled and happy.

Jenn’s happy place is with people. She’s really great at customer service and talking to people. I mean, doesn’t she just sound like she’s your best friend already?

BEST GO TO MEAL

Her meals sound amazing. Lemon pepper chicken with black beans and rice, with green pepper and mozzarella cheese. YUM!!

She also loves to make fish tostadas. We need her to write us a post with this recipe, right? This just sounds amazing.
