7 Ways to Be More Creative Every Day for a Happier Lifestyle

7 ways to be more creative every day for a happier lifestyle

As winter begins and the winter blues begin to effect myself and those around us, I wanted to talk about one of the natural and best ways to combat winter blues – Ways to be more creative.

Which is flexing our ways to be creative muscle. I’ve compiled a list of 7 ways to be creative this season.

I started listening to and reading Dr. Brene Brown and one of her quotes that has really stuck with me is, “unused creativity is not benign. It metastasizes and it turns into grief, rage, judgment, sorrow and shame.”

I believe that statement wholeheartedly and so I want to give you all some ideas to help you create in 2019. Create is my word for 2019 because I’ve just become so passionate about it. Being creative is a great natural remedies for season depression.

In this episode you’ll learn:

  • 7 ways to stay creative
  • What I’m working on for 2019
  • How to naturally combat the winter blues

7 Ways to Stay Creative

There are so many things to stay creative that don’t require a lot to get started and allow you to combat the winter blues. I’m going over ways to be more creative in your day to day and also on your farm.

Coloring and Drawing

Coloring is such an easy way to create. I’m going to be putting together some rural living coloring sheets in my shop for you guys. Some will be paid and some will be free but the focus will be all things rural and farm related. It’s one of my favorite activities to do with my girls, who are 2 and 5. Drawing is another easy way to create. It’s not my strong suit which is why I hired someone to do the drawing for my children’s book, but it’s definitely a great and easy creative outlet for someone who enjoys it.

Writing

I prefer creative writing. I enjoy story telling and that is where my strength lies so I love creating books for children.

Story telling kind of goes hand in hand with writing and anyone can tell a story. My two year old, who doesn’t know how to write yet, can tell amazing stories. My five year old wanted to create a book so I helped her create a book that we’ll put on Amazon and see if there’s any interest in it.

Crafting

This is a popular one right now and we have a place in town that you can go to and just create. You can paint, draw, sculpt, whatever you desire. You can bring a group and make a party out of it. My cousin opened a ceramics store in our little hometown where you can create and then paint your own ceramics.

Building

This can be something you need for your farm like a dog house or goat shed, whatever would be beneficial to you. You would be amazed at what you can build with what you have when you put your mind to it.

Photography and Videography

This is another exciting thing that I’m going to be doing with my girls. I ordered them each a kids camera for Christmas. We’ll learn how to take better pictures together which I’m really looking forward to.

The cameras we got for the girls also has video capabilities so we’re going to be doing videos too. My five year old wanted to video me when we were making cookies late one night and it was a little nerve wracking for me but I want her to learn that it’s okay to be vulnerable. So I went along with it and she explained each step as we were making them and it turned out to be a really great video.

Education

I am a natural educator and have a masters in ag education, so it comes easily to me. Creating courses is something I love to do. It’s something I want to do more of next year. I want to create courses and bundles for my audience to benefit from.

I finished my first course which is a “First Year Beekeeping” course and I’m hooked.

Decorating

This is another favorite that I do with my girls. Decorating cookies, cakes, baked goods, rooms, household items, or landscapes. All of those are great ways to flex that creative muscle and I know some people use it to relax too.

How I’m Making Space to Create in 2019

One of the things I am most excited for in 2019 is my shop. This will contain all of my free and paid content for you! I’m going to have a price range from dollar deals up to bigger bundles that’ll be a little more expensive. This will include everything from coloring sheets to educational bundles for gardening, raising meat goats, etc.

Visit the shop here.

I’m also planning on resurrecting my YouTube channel. I haven’t posted a new video in two years but still get new subscribers so I’m planning on doing a new video a week. These photos are going to be super vulnerable, raw, and real because I want you all to be comfortable doing the same.

I’m also going to focus on showing my girls how important creativity is in your life. So I’m going to put my ego aside and focus on showing my girls how to be creative in life.

In Conclusion

As we get ready to enter 2019 I want to challenge you to create more in 2019. It doesn’t need to be fancy. It doesn’t need to be elaborate, just take the time to create the things that make you happy. I want to help encourage you on how to be a creative person, how to be creative in life, and I hope my list of 7 ways to stay creative gives you a good jump start to do just that!
