Delicious Bacon Wilted Lettuce Recipe

Yes, there is definitely bacon in my delicious bacon wilted lettuce recipe. Because bacon is the bomb-digety.

Buttercrunch lettuce is the absolute best tasting lettuce out in the world. Of course, this is my own opinion...but how can you not love a lettuce with the name 'buttercrunch'?

Along with Bacon and a homemade dressing? YUM! I'm going to share one of our favorite spring recipes.

Every Spring, we grow plenty of Buttercrunch Lettuce to enjoy and this delicious bacon wilted lettuce recipe is at the top of my family's list. We ALL crave it! And soon, you will, too.

LETTUCE

This recipe is sure to be an outdoor BBQ crowd favorite in the salad department. It tastes the absolute best lettuce freshly cut and washed. Don't have a place for a garden?

NO PROBLEM! Lettuce can be grown successfully in a container salad garden. Here's the delicious bacon wilted lettuce recipe:

12 Cups Fresh Buttercrunch Lettuce
3 farm fresh Radishes Sliced

Salad Dressing Portion:
Delicious Bacon Wilted Lettuce

5 slices of farm fresh bacon
1 tsp. of garlic salt
1 ½ tsp. of sugar
2 pinch of salt
2 pinch of pepper
¼ cup(s) of apple cider vinegar
4 ounce(s) of Daisy Sour Cream or Philadelphia Cream Cheese

First, you want to cook your bacon in a small skillet on the stove until it's crispy and cooked throughout. While the bacon is cooking, you can mix up the rest of the dressing ingredients (garlic salt, sugar, salt, pepper, apple cider vinegar, and cream) into a large saucepan on low heat until you get a creamy dressing.

When bacon is cooked, take said bacon out of the skillet and place it on a plate or paper towel to cool. The next step is extremely important for the quality of your delicious bacon wilted lettuce recipe.

First, grab your large serving bowl for the wilted lettuce that you will display your salad in. While the bacon grease is still hot, place a handful of your fresh washed lettuce into the skillet for about 30 seconds. This will "wilt" the lettuce and the bacon grease will give it even more flavor! Repeat until all your lettuce is wilted and in the serving bowl.

The next step is to add the radishes into your lettuce. You could wilt them, too, but I have never done it that way. I love the crisp crunch of the radishes in the salad.

Finally, you can lightly cover the lettuce with the dressing. It is important to remember not to drown your lettuce with the dressing. Use enough just to cover it well and then put the rest in a covered container and use it for the next round. Lettuce stays fresh in the garden for several weeks so you should be good.

We like to pair this delicious bacon wilted lettuce recipe as a side with any of our farm fresh steaks fresh off the grill. Delicious!

I absolutely LOVE butter crunch lettuce! It's so delicious. It's actually a very popular salad base here in Japan!

That's awesome, Trisha! It's such a small world, literally. What can be grown in the midwest can also be grown in Japan. I'm glad we can all enjoy the little things in life.

Aubrey - I would love to help you grow lettuce and other things! It's not difficult when you start with just a few seeds and then grow with confidence.

      1. Oh man. Starting from seeds scares me to death. I've always started from plants and I can't even do that.

        1. Mindy Young @ Farm Fit Mama says:

Aubrey, Just remember that all plants need sun, water and nutrition. You might want to start with a soil test to see if your soil has proper nutrients for growing veggies.
