How To Make Workouts Happen When You Really Don’t Want To

Are you having trouble finding ways to make workouts happen when you’re really not feeling the love?

Make workouts happen again by readjusting that mindset. Get back into your desired routine to make the change in your body. You have to find a way.

And I understand there are times when it’s extremely difficult to make workouts happen. Those early mornings when I hear my alarm, but I roll back over into sleep – The guilt I feel the rest of the day is unbearable. Or maybe I was in such a deep sleep that I didn’t even hear my alarm clock. I missed my workout. And I was disgusted with myself the rest of the day.

Or maybe it’s the end of the day and my family is all at home. Maybe you skipped your workout because you wanted to be at home with your family to finish out the day.  The excuses are endless. However, anyone can have a no excuse mindset just by training the mind to believe there is no other way.

You see, your mindset is a powerful thing. Power that negative mindset of “you can’t” and change it to the positive side of “you can” when it comes to your workouts. Understand that most normal workouts is around an hour. And an hour is only 4% of your entire day.

So, here are some ways to drop your excuses and make workouts happen when you really don’t want them to.

Make Workouts Happen

Revert Back To Your Goals

The best way to get back on track with your workouts is to look back at why you want to work out in the first place. What are your goals? Do you have them written down somewhere?

You need to. Because, those initial goals are what keep you on track. And as you go about your days, life can get busy. I get it! I’ve lost track of my goals at times because of it.

But if you’re seriously focused about your goals, you will find a way to stay on track. You will find a way to get your workout in and stay fit. And finding a way starts with knowing your goals to follow the right success track.

For example, you may want to simply lose 20 pounds by eating healthy and doing 30 minutes of cardio six days per week. Six days per week to get up and workout is a huge commitment! You can begin with this goal, but all in all, you’ll have to adjust to find the schedule that works best for you.

And as life happens, you can lose track of those goals. It helps me to write your goals down and keep them in a place where you can look at them all the time. I like to keep goals taped to my bathroom mirror.

And, of course, you should also be ready for your daily schedule to change. You should always have your gear ready and have a Plan B in case of any schedule change to make workouts happen.

Have Your Workout Clothes READY To Go

Are you getting up early in the morning to make workouts happen? Have you considered sleeping in your workout clothes?

Trust me! This really works to make workouts happen before the crack of dawn. All you have to do is get dressed the night before when your morning routine is on your mind for the next day. It’s worth a try to make workouts happen early in the morning before your family wakes up.

Because you might struggle to wake up and get out of bed. If you’re already dressed in your comfy workout clothes, you can focus on waking up that mind and getting it ready to kill that workout. It’s a win-win!

And the same goes for afternoon or evening workouts, too. Set those workout clothes out or pack them into your car to take to work with you. Keep a set of work out clothes and shoes in your vehicle. You never know what might open up in your schedule.

Finally, what are excuses? If you have your workout clothes and shoes ready to go, you’ll never ever have another excuse to skipping a workout. Especially if you pack along an energizing snack to help get you motivate to move.

Find a Pre-Workout Supplement or Snack You LOVE

Fuel your body and mind with something great! I already do this every day with my fresh country eats and farm fresh products we grow on our farmstead. But, sometimes I just need a little something more to just help me wake up and think a little more clearly in the mornings.

Because, there are so many wonderful products out into the world today to help us achieve more in our days. It does seem like we are all trying to cram a lot into our days. I know I do.

I’m a homeschooling mom of two. I’m a homesteader and a farmer trying to work from home. Plus, I still manage to hit up the gym 2-3 days per week for a solid cardio workout. I know I’m not getting the sleep I need and it can be draining sometimes. But, I feel worse when I don’t make it to the gym and give it my all.

So, I find special ways to fuel my body in order to make the most of the workout time I am allotted each day.

My Supplement of Choice

So, I will share with you what I have used for several years to fuel my body and find extra energy. Herbalife will always be my #1 source of supplemental energy when I need a little extra to get fueled up.

Herbalife 24 is their fitness line for 24 hour energy. They have excellent pre workout formulas, post workout formulas, protein supplements, vitamins and energy supplements to choose from.

This perfect breakfast is what gets me out of bed in the morning and ready for a great workout. And after lifting, I enjoy some delicious post workout chocolate Rebuild Strength that repairs my muscles in a way like nothing else I have found.

While Herbalife may or may not be for everyone, it is the only one I recommend as a safe and reliable energy choice. And the only one I will ever use and recommend up to this point. It was formulated by Doctors to fuel and repair bodies and minds.  Certainly I feel more clarity and more energized after consuming protein or a pre-workout.

And sometimes nutrition is not the only thing you need to change. Maybe you just need to switch things up. Probably you need to find something to make working out fun again.

Switch Up Your Workout Routine

Believe it or not, your body can get bored from doing the same thing all the time. Well, it’s really your mind that is bored. So, why not shock it by doing something totally different?

Shock it. Challenge it. Switch up your workout routine into something fun! Take a Zumba or BODYPUMP class if you can fit it into your schedule. Start swimming laps in the pool for a little different type of cardio.

And you’d be amazed to find more than just a different workout when you shake things up a little bit. If you change up your workout or workout time, you’re bound to discover a workout accountability buddy you never thought you’d find.

Find A Workout Buddy

Need a little help to make workouts happen? Have you tried asking someone to be your accountability?

Accountability partners can be so valuable in the quest towards meeting those goals. The key is to find someone you know will keep you on track and stick with you till the end. Here are some ways to make your workout partnership successful:

  1. Send each other a text or call within an hour before workout time.
  2. Be flexible with each other’s times.
  3. Cheer each other on.
  4. Do a “shout out” each day to each other on social media.
  5. Take some time each week to analyze progress. Then, decide if you need to change up your routine or stay the same.

Workout buddies may be very beneficial to some. But if you choose to workout solo and challenge yourself, maybe what you need is a positive mantra.

Repeat Your Positive Mantra

Your mind may rule your body and what it can do. BUT, did you know you can change that mindset? It’s called mantra.

To make workouts happen, you can find accountability in yourself. When watching any competitive professional event, such as the Olympics, you might see athletes muttering something to themselves before their race, contest or match.

This is mantra. You see, when you tell yourself something over and over again, you start to believe it. This is the process of maintaining your positive mindset. Believing in yourself that you can make workouts happen. Challenge yourself and reach the amazing goals you set for yourself.

You can make the change you are looking for. Make your mind believe you can. You just need to go for it.

Ready…Set…Start

So, what are you waiting for?

The hardest part is starting that workout. It’s getting out of bed or out of that chair and going for it.

Once you are at your starting location and start moving, your adrenaline begins to carry you through.  So, you have to take the first step in creating that positive mindset that helps you get to the starting point in your workout.

This begins with a no excuse attitude and a positive mindset. Easier said than done, right? Mindset begins with you believing in yourself. It begins with knowing what goals you want to achieve and what changes you want to see in yourself.

Because no one is going to make workouts happen for you. You are the only one that can make the change. So, take the first step to making it happen.

Make Workouts Happen

It can be difficult to make workouts happen when you really don’t feel it. But, you can make workouts happen and it’s important that you do in order to find success.

But, understand this is a lifestyle change. So, this change is FOR LIFE. Understand that if your mind and body are tired, you are allowed rest. Take that rest, but then reassess your goals and get back to it.

Don’t be afraid to try new types of workouts. Challenge your body. Find a workout training buddy or use a positive mantra to your advantage.

Finally, above all, choose the schedule and workouts that work for YOU. You are the ONLY ONE that can make the change for your body. Take the first step and find success.
